Charity begins at home, it has been said, but it doesn’t end there. Following are 60 things you can do that will make you feel good about yourself and reinforce the value of your existence. Never again will you have to ask yourself, “What can I do to be of service?” - Give someone a shoulder to cry on.
- Offer the benefit of your experience.
- Teach someone how to do something.
- Baby-sit or dog-sit for your children or your friends.
- Let someone in a hurry get in front of you in line.
- Help a disabled person across the street or through a door.
- Offer your company to someone who is ill or just lonely.
- Volunteer your time, your home, or your possessions for a fund-raiser.
- Volunteer at a local hospital or other community facility.
- Walk dogs at a shelter.
- Cook a meal for a bedridden person.
- Make phone calls for a charitable organization.
- Read to the blind.
- Give directions to someone who is lost, or take them to their destination.
- Drive someone somewhere who doesn’t have a car.
- Take someone to and from the hospital or medical appointment.
- Hug someone when a hug is needed.
- Say “I love you” when those words mean the most.
- Make someone laugh.
- Give something away to someone who needs it more than you.
- Compliment someone on the way they look.

- Start a charity for a cause about which you are passionate.
